Margaret Dopp Tura of Chatham, formerly of Duxbury, died on November 12th at Broad Reach at Liberty Commons in Chatham. Margaret (Peg) was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1922 to David and Ethel Duncan Dopp. She grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts and graduated from Brookline High School where she served as Vice President of her class and was voted Most Popular Girl in the class of 1940.
Peg attended Katharine Gibbs School in Boston and then married Louis B. Tura who predeceased her in 1991. Peg and Lou lived in Duxbury and Acton before retiring to Chatham in 1984. She played golf into her 89th year and held memberships at the Duxbury Yacht Club, Seaside Golf Club in Chatham, Monomoy Yacht Club, and the Chatham Garden Club. Peg enjoyed gardening and traveled widely throughout the US and Europe.
She is survived by her son David and his wife Hillery Tura of Groton, CT, grandson Hunter Ford Tura and his wife Jeannie Kim of Toronto, Ontario, and two great granddaughters, Auden Tura and Beate Tura also of Toronto.
A private burial service has been held at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury, and a memorial service in Chatham will be announced at a later date.
