Anthy "Flo" (Poulos) Kosta, 91, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Nicholas P. Kosta.
Born on January 3, 1922, she was a New Bedford resident all of her life. She was the daughter of Greek immigrants, the late Stegos and Glykeria (Hatzis) Poulos.
She worked all her life for her family, first for her father’s confectionaries and then for her brothers' businesses, Poulos’ Pharmacy and Maxie’s Deli in Downtown New Bedford.
A modest woman, her life centered around her family. She was dedicated to her children, and they to her.
She is survived by her four loving children, Angela Medeiros, Peter N. Kosta, Timothy G. Kosta and his wife Cecilia, and Gayla Kosta, all of New Bedford; her sister, Kay Bislarides of Brockton; five grandchildren, Katherine E. Gonsalves and her husband Jake, Melissa A. Medeiros, Matthew J. Medeiros, Nicholas T. Kosta, and Jonathan A. Kosta; a great-grandson, Logan J. Viveiros; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Urania Psilekaris, Peter Poulos, Dr. John Poulos, and Thomas Poulos.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 10 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Rd., Dartmouth with burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford.
