Obituary

WORCESTER: Francis P. Rogan, 87, a retired Worcester Police Officer, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus after a brief illness.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Judith E. (Cormier) Rogan; three daughters, Susan Jablonski and her husband David of Whitman, Kathleen McAtee and her husband David of Millbury, Annamarie Armenti and her husband Joseph of Millbury; a step-daughter, Deborah Bosse of Rutland; a step-son, Kevin Mailloux and his wife Jennifer of Worcester; three sisters, Grace DiReda and Theresa Kelly, both of Worcester, Margaret Stark of Clearwater, FL; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nephews and nieces including Donna Poulin and Marilyn Rogan Smith. He was predeceased by 4 brothers and a sister. He was born in Worcester, son of the late William J. and Rosa I. (Vandall) Rogan and was a Marine Corps Veteran of World War II.
Fran served as a Worcester Police Officer for 32 years until retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, the World War II/Korean War Group at the Worcester Vet Center, the Marines Corps League and the retired Worcester County Police and Firefighters Association. He worked as a volunteer at the Bishop’s Thanksgiving and Christmas Day dinners for more than 50 years. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed woodworking in his own shop, growing vegetables in his home garden, having daily coffee at McDonald’s with his friends and visiting Florida in the winter.
CALLING HOURS are 3 to 6 P.M on SUNDAY, NOV. 17 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 A.M. on MONDAY, NOV. 18 at ST. JOAN OF ARC CHURCH, 570 Lincoln St., followed by burial at St. John’s Cemetery. The family suggests donations in memory of Fran be made to Veterans, Inc., 69 Grove St, Worcester, MA 01605 or to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606.
