BARRE, VT – Robert E. Hicks, 78, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Rowan Court Health and Rehabilitation Center in Barre, Vermont.
Born in Somerville on August 21, 1935, he was the son of the late James P. and Alice M. (Brown) Hicks.
He had resided in Reading most of his life, before moving to Gloucester in the early 1980’s. For the past seven years, he has resided in Vermont. As a landscape architect, he was the owner and operator of Robert E. Hicks & Son.
He is survived by his children, Audrey, wife of Mark Will, Alison Hicks and her significant other, John Draper, Kevin, husband of Karen Hicks, and April, wife of Kris Francis; twelve grandchildren, Brogan, Bridget and Brady, Joshua, Shane, Justin and Taylor, Rebecca and Ashlyn, John, Cecily and Summer; his brother, John Hicks, sisters, Barbara Butler and Carole, wife of Thomas Aukstikalnis and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Arthur and William Hicks, and his brother-in-law, Norman Butler.
His funeral service will be held on Friday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be held in the Seaside Cemetery.
