WEBSTER – Ronald A. Johnson, 78, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 41 years, Karen L. (Schumann) Johnson; a brother, Bruce Johnson of Woodstock, CT; a sister, Sharon Plouffe of South Carolina; 5 nephews and 2 nieces, John Makowski of London, England, Jeff Makowski of North Andover, Amy Battista of Southbridge, Kevin Greene of Sherman, TX, Gary Greene of Thompson, CT, Jeff Johnson of Danielson, CT and Lynn James of Brooklyn, CT; and 3 great-nieces.
He was born in Webster and raised in Woodstock, CT a son of Arthur and Mildred (Kane) Johnson. He moved to Webster when he married in 1972. He graduated from Woodstock Academy.
Mr. Johnson first worked at the American Greeting Card Company in Webster. He then was a machinist at Hyde Manufacturing in Southbridge for many years retiring in 1994. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Federated. He was a tenor in its choir and also a member of its Bible study. He loved birds, gardening and flowers.
The funeral will be held Monday, November 18, at 11:00 A.M. in the United Church of Christ, Federated, 4 Church Street. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in Woodstock, CT. A calling hour will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 18, in the church. Donations in his name may be made to the United Church of Christ, Federated, 4 Church Street, Webster, MA 01570. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
