Ostrofsky, Goldie (Wolovik) of Revere passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Max Ostrofsky. Devoted mother of Lewis Ostrofsky and his wife Libby and Neil Ostrofsky. Loving daughter of the late David (Wolovik) and Lena (Gershonberg). Dear sister of Kenneth Wolovick, Ruby Wolovick and the late Henry Wolovick. Loving grandmother of Adam Ostrofsky and his wife Diana and Alexis Veigas and her husband Lorin.
Goldie was “an incredibly compassionate, generous, graceful, elegant, energetic, and strong woman. As a devoted mother, grandmother, friend and volunteer, she was loved by everyone who knew her. All of us who were lucky enough to have her in our lives already miss her terribly,” her family said.
During WWII the City of Chelsea gratefully recognized her patriotic duty to the community during a state of war for proudly serving her country as an Air Raid Warden.
Goldie came from a generation where there was an understanding that it was important for people to take charge of helping others. Thus, one of her great passions was volunteerism. First she was a volunteer for the Office For Children helping children with disabilities. And later as a tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of America, she worked to improve the lives of recent immigrants by helping them to learn to read and master the English language.
