Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Goodman, Sr., 71, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, November 11, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, November 14, 2013, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Minister Michael Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Goodman was born July 11, 1942 in Moline, Illinois, to the late James Edward and Roberta Beasley Goodman. He lived in the community all of his life and was a 1962 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Together with his father and brothers, he was owner and operator of the former Goodman’s Welding and Crane. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, driving his tractor, cutting grass, and working with his son and friends at the shop. He was a member of Fitzgerald Church of Christ and dearly loved his church family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Vivian Goodman of Fitzgerald; daughter and son-in-law: Nadine & William Brown of South Euclid, Ohio; two sons: Ronald Lee Goodman, Jr. of Fitzgerald and Tracy Steve Goodman of Fitzgerald; granddaughter: Madeline Brown; brother: Eddie & Evie Mae Goodman of Fitzgerald; sister-in-law: Mary Jane Goodman of Ocilla and his three dogs: Auggie, Sibbie and Daisy. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Glenn Goodman.
