Charles J. Gianino, age 96, A Medford resident for most of his life, passed away peacefully on November 9th, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary B. (Ciccia) and together they shared 64 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2004. Born in Boston, Charles was one of five children of the late Angelo and Maria (Sarocino) Gianino.
Charles was raised and educated in the West End of Boston. He retired from the General Electric Corp. where he worked as a machinist for forty years. In his leisure time he enjoyed taking trips to the casino, following sports, listening to music and working in his garden. However, his greatest joy was his family and he cherished the times when he was surrounded by his large family and those he loved. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his late wife and parents, Charles is predeceased by his sister, the late Anna Samaria, and brothers, the late Frank, Domenic and Michael Gianino. He is survived by his devoted children, Marie DiGiacomo of Medford, Charles Gianino Jr. of Revere, Rosalie "Cookie" Sullivan of Medford, Linda Alessandro of Boxboro, Donna Maloney of Stoneham and Lisa Gianino-Martel of Medford. He is also survived by 17 loving grandchildren, 17 loving great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, November 14th, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., MEDFORD, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 thru 8 pm. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Chuck's memory to the charity of one's choice.
