FRAMINGHAM: John M. “Jack” Van Heest, 86, died peacefully and comfortably, on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Wingate in Sudbury from complications of a stroke he suffered several years earlier.
He was born in Weymouth on December 2, 1926 the son of the late Harold W. Van Heest and Gladys M. (Tudor) Van Heest.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nancy Ann (Giorgio) Van Heest of Framingham. Beloved father of Michele DeMarco and her husband Paul DeMarco of Sudbury; Peter Van Heest and his wife Kim Van Heest of Westborough and Mary Jacobs and her husband Michael Jacobs of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Michael, Nicole, Rachel, Jack, Matt and Kate. Brother of Nancy T. Van Heest and Elizabeth A. “Betsy” Van Heest both of Wayland and the late Donald M. Van Heest; Mary Van Heest and H. William Van Heest. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Jack has been a resident of Framingham for the past 55 years, spent his formative years in Weston and was a graduate of Weston High School with the Class of 1944. He honorably served his country during World War II with the United States Army and was stationed most of his military career in Japan.
He retired after 38 years of dedicated service as a leader line man for Boston Edison Company. Jack enjoyed golf, gardening and hunting in Machias, ME. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother to his family and will be greatly missed by them.
His family will receive family and friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday November 16, 2013 in the Gibbs Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30) Wayland.
His memorial service celebrating his life will begin at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests gifts in Jack’s memory may be sent to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
