Lawana Merritt Wilcox, 72, of Jacksonville, Georgia, died Friday, November 8, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, November 11, 2013, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Scott Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery, Wilcox County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Wilcox was born April 13, 1941, in Wilcox County, Georgia to the late Henry & Jewell Estell Wofford Merritt. She was a homemaker who dearly loved her family. She lived with her son for the past two years coming from Pineview.
She is survived by a son: Walter Keith Hampton of Jacksonville and a daughter: April Espinoza of Great Falls, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Robert Merritt of Abbeville and Billy & Maureen Merritt of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Durham Wilcox and a brother: Jimmy Merritt.
