Obituary

Duffin, John R. of Dedham, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed away November 7, 2013, at age 75. Devoted husband of the late Margaret “Peg” (Curran). Loving father to John Jr., of Portland, ME, Tracey Wilkinson and husband Mike, of Medway, MA and Peggy Rynne and husband Christopher of Kennebunk, ME. Loving grandfather of Michael, Matthew, and Sean Wilkinson, and Erin and Brendan Rynne.

John was born in Boston on November 28, 1937. He was raised by loving parents, Patrick and Bridget (Cooke), in Jamaica Plain. John was the beloved brother of Anna Long, Mary (Idella) McDonough, William Duffin, Frances MacDonald, the late Margaret (Peggy) Goggin, and the late Patrick Duffin. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

John graduated Jamaica Plain High School - Class of 1955. John started his career with AT&T working at Gillette Headquarters in South Boston. John retired in 1992 to care for Peg. John and Peg were an inspiration to family and friends. They lived life fully, bravely, without complaint and with much love in their hearts.

John was active in sports throughout his life. He loved to dance, listen to music, entertain and cook for guests at his house as often as he could. John also loved to travel and enjoyed multiple trips to Europe with his son. He is remembered for his sense of humor, good food, and has created wonderful memories we will treasure.

Funeral from the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Monday November 11th, at 9am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes, Jamaica Plain at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 3-7 pm. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
