Obituary

Thomas Joseph White died on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 following a period of declining health at the Coleman House Nursing Home of Northborough. He was 83 years old.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 6, 1930 he was the son of the late Thomas J. & Evelyn M. (Hughes) White. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Edith P. (Burns) White of Marlborough.

He was the devoted father of Nancy W. Wasiuk & her husband Donald of Maynard, Ellen M. Davison & her husband John of Pembroke & Kenneth T. White & his wife Alicia of Waldwick, New Jersey. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Michelle & Stephanie Wasiuk, Bradford & Scott Davison & Jennifer & Jason White, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was the brother of Elinor M. Baldwin of FL & the late Francis X. White.

Tom spent his formative years in Dorchester where he attended St. Peter’s School. He graduated from Boston College High School and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. He was employed by Raytheon for 36 years, many of which were dedicated to the development of the Patriot Defense System.

Tom and Edie raised their family in Wayland and later split their time between Raymond, Maine and Clearwater Beach, Florida where they enjoyed being around the water. In 2000, they returned to Massachusetts, residing in Marlborough.

Tom enjoyed boating, racing his Sunfish sailboat, traveling, reading and collecting over eighty flying boat models.

Funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. at Natick Common on Saturday, November 9th at 10:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Good Shepherd Parish @ St. Zepherin’s Church, 99 Main St., (Rt.27) Wayland @ 11:30AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4:00-8:00PM in the funeral home. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or the organization of one’s choice.
