Obituary

Maurice A. Guilfoyle Jr., 90, of Derry, NH passed away peacefully at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born on July 26, 1923 in Norwich, CT a son of the late Maurice A.Sr. and Louise (Uterstaedt) Guilfoyle. He was a resident of Derry for five years, formerly living in Methuen, MA for over 60 years. Mr. Guilfoyle proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart, among others for his service. He was a member of the VFW Arnold Greenwood Post #8349 and the American Legion Post #122, both in Methuen. Mr. Guilfoyle was also a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council #35. He enjoyed spending time at the Arlington Social Club in Lawrence, MA where he enjoyed playing cards and dancing. He and his wife loved to go ballroom dancing.
He is survived by six children, Stephen and wife Linda Guilfoyle, Maureen and husband Tom Silvers, David and wife Cheryl Guilfoyle, Louise Guilfoyle, Priscilla and husband Brian Bartholomew and Christopher and wife Michelle Guilfoyle, fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Winifred (Crotty) Guilfoyle in 2010, and two of his children, Michael Guilfoyle and Maurice A. Guilfoyle III.
Calling hours were held on Sunday November 10, 2013 from 1 -4 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry with a funeral service that followed at 4:00pm. Burial was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
