Carlene Goff Gill, 86, of Tifton died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Tift Avenue Church of God. Rev. Dan McEachin and Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Her grandsons, Kyle Rutherford, Keith Rutherford, Monty Copeland, Adam Gill, Blake Gill and Brad Gill will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 8, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Gill will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Gill was born on August 24, 1927 in Tampa, Florida and was the daughter of Milton Goff and Allene Thomas Goff, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thurmon Gill; one son, Alan Gill; and one brother, James Carlton “Buddy” Goff. She was retired from J. P. Stevens and also retired as a school crossing guard. She was a member of Tift Avenue Church of God.
Mrs. Gill is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Faye Gill of Fleming Island, Florida and Mike and Ann Gill of Maryville, Tennessee; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Earl Copeland, Doris and James Rutherford and Melissa and Chip Rhodes, all of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, J. D. and Margaret Goff of Tifton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nell and Robert Pope of Macon, Bootsie Griffin of Lenox and Betty and Donald Jones of Chula; eight grandchildren, Kyle Rutherford, Keith Rutherford, Monty Copeland, Adam Gill, Kecia Tomlin, Blake Gill, Brad Gill and Breanna Smith; and nine great-grandchildren.
