Obituary

CHICOPEE – Carol A. (Jerome) House, 79, of the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born on August 28, 1934 in Adams, Massachusetts a beloved daughter of the late Francis (Jerome) DeGeronimo and Eva (Rolland) DeGeronimo. At a young age, she moved with her parents to Springfield where she lived and graduated from the High School of Commerce. She moved to Chicopee in 1961 where she lived for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed fishing and was often seen at the Quabbin Resevoir in Ware with her late husband, Bill. She was known to be a better fisherman than he was and had a secret about painting her fishing lures with nail polish to attract the “big fish”. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, William C. House who was Called Home on March 19, 2000. They were married on September 6, 1952 at Saint Luke Episcopal Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving children, William A. House of South Hadley, Dorothy J. Bray, of Chicopee, and Lori A. House, of Warwick, RI; her four cherished grandchildren, Shawn and Patrick Bray, of Florida, Amy Bray of San Diego, CA, and Ryan House of Chicopee; her cherished great-grandson, Devon Soliere of Chicopee; her dear brother-in-law, John S. House and his wife, Sophie, of Plainfield, NJ; her dear sisters-in-law, Jane E. Mack of Springfield; and Margaret “Peggy” Wilcox, of Meriden, CT; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the House and DeGeronimo families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Francis DeGeronimo. Her Committal Service will be private for her family at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
