Ludgero “Louie” F. Tavares, age 78 of Fall River, passed away Nov. 4, 2013 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria Fatima (Fagundes) Tavares. Born in Fenais da Luz, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Manuel Tavares Rego and Maria dos Anjos (Ferreira) Tavares. Prior to retiring, Ludgero worked for the Bristol County House of Corrections as a Horticulturist. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, a member of the Liberal Club, and had a passion for gardening and planting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 2 daughters: Linda M. Patricio (husband Carlos) of Stafford, VA and Paulette M. Gomes (husband Georges) of Fall River; 2 brothers: Renato F. Tavares of Groton, MA and John M. Tavares of Fall River; 2 grandchildren: Brienne Patricio and Trista Emma Gomes; several nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on FRIDAY at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
