Mr. Carmine Riccioli, age 89, a Medford resident for 62 years passed away at his home following a short illness on November 2nd. He was the beloved husband of the late Angelina C. (Forgione) Riccioli. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Chiramonte) Riccioli.
Carmine was raised and educated in New York City. He enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1943 where he entered as an Aviation Cadet. He honorably served his country as a Flight Officer with the Army Air Corp during WWII and also continued his service with the Reserves for 33 years retiring as a Major. He was the recipient of several decorations including World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal; European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign Medals and Distinguished Unit Badge with Bronze Star for Central European Campaign. Carmine was a true patriot and extremely proud veteran. Carmine attended St. Johns University, Syracuse University and North Eastern University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. In his civilian life, Carmine worked as an Engineer with the Raytheon Corp for 33 years prior to his retirement. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching old movies, He was an avid reader, and enjoyed working on puzzles. However, his greatest joy was his family, and he cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he was most proud of.
In addition to his late wife and parents, Carmine is predeceased by his brother, the late Dr. Frank Riccioli. He is survived by his devoted children, Joseph A. Riccioli and his wife Eva of Conway, SC, Carmine A. Riccioli and his wife Diane of Danvers, Annette G. Rotti and her husband Walter of West Boylston, Paul M. Riccioli and his wife Patricia of Medford. He is also survived by eight loving grandchildren and eight loving great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Friday, November 8th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will held Thursday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
