Roland H. Nichols 89, formerly of Woonsocket, died Wednesday, October 23 at The Indigo Manor in Daytona, FL. He was the husband of the late Jeanne (Leclerc) Nichols. He was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Henry and Marie (Duguay) Nichols. Mr. Nichols was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corp veteran with the 464th Fighter Squadron, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign. Later he would work for General Motors for thirty one years, retiring in 1983. He was a life time member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks and Cercle Laurier, Inc.
He is survived by two children; a daughter Susan Bonin and her husband Harvey of So. Daytona, a son Ronald Nichols and his wife Denise of Woonsocket, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by two siblings; Oscar Nichols of Woonsocket, and Theresa Marini.
His funeral with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St, Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Visiting hours will be Thursday 6-8PM in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket.
