Richard M. Zellmer, 70, of Worcester, died Friday, November 1st in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Judith L. (DesRosiers) Zellmer; three sons, Richard M. Zellmer, Sr. and his wife Michelle of Worcester, Stephen A. Zellmer and his wife Kim of Worcester, and Kevin M. Zellmer of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren, Casandra, Alex, Richard, Kiana, Kalia, Charlie, and Joe; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister, Joanne T. Malesky.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Alexander C. and Blanche D. (Miron) Zellmer and lived here all his life. Richard was very active in youth sports in Worcester for more than 30 years; he coached for the Worcester Crusaders, John Paul Tivnan Senior Ruth League, the Jack Barry Little League, and the East Side Babe Ruth, where he was currently the President. He was a member of St. John’s Church and a longtime member of the former Ascension Church.
The funeral is Friday, November 8th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, November 7th in the funeral home.
