Obituary

John W. Feeley, 93, of Worcester, died peacefully Saturday, November 2nd in his home surrounded by his loved ones. His wife of 39 years, Ruth A. (Hoyen) Feeley, died in 1998. He leaves his niece, Deborah S. Gazos of Worcester, with whom his made his home, and her children, Greg and Anna; four brothers, James Feeley of South Dennis, Paul and Richard Feeley, both of Worcester, and Joseph Feeley of Grafton; four sisters, Rita Stencel of Worcester, Patricia East of St. Petersburg, FL, Catherine Phelan and Ruth Walsh, both of Milford, CT; and a large extended family, including many nephews, nieces, and in-laws. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Wilfred Feeley and two sisters, Mary Henning and Helen Vela.

He was born in Worcester, the son of James E. and Catherine R. (Erb) Feeley and graduated from South High School and Fitchburg State College, and received his Master Degree from Worcester State College. John was a guidance counselor for the City of Worcester School Department at Gates Lane and Columbus Park Schools. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Feeley was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, the Main South American Legion Post 341, the Worcester Lodge of Elks 243, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and the National Educators Association.
The funeral is Wednesday, November 6th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, November 5th from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
