New Bedford – Joseph James Arruda Jr., of Dartmouth, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Mr. Arruda was born in New Bedford in 1937 the son of Mary (Amaral) and Joseph J. Arruda. He was the husband of Helena (Carreiro) Arruda for 52 loving happy years.
He was employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a Supervisor until his retirement. He enjoyed family, friends, traveling and his beloved Yankees.
His surviving family includes his wife: Helena; his daughter, Patricia Carreiro and her fiancé Michael Bevilacqua; his 2 grandchildren: Joseph Oliveira and Anastasia Oliveira as well as 2 great-grandchildren: Troy C. Cavallo and Guiliana L. Cavallo.
In accordance with his wishes, Joseph will be cremated. Relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at church for a Memorial Mass with his cremains present on Saturday, November 9 beginning at 12:00 P.M. at St. Julie Billiart Church. Private burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St.
