Whitman – Joan Frances (Estes) Joubert died Friday November 1 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of David Joubert, Sr. and they were married for 54 years.
Joan was born in Brockton June 29, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Thelma G. (Sturtevant) Estes and sister of Stephen Estes of SC, and the late Jean (Estes) Coughlin and the late Stanley Estes, Jr.
She was the proud mother of her sons David Jr. of Edgartown, Eric of Whitman and their spouses. She was also the proud grandmother of George and Gabrielle of Edgartown and Monique of CA. She was the great grandmother of Nathan and the favorite aunt of nieces and nephews.
Joan spent her childhood years in Halifax and graduated from Silver Lake High School. She graduated from Brockton Hospital School of Nursing and had worked for many years at the Brockton Hospital.
Joan was also a professional writer and wrote many articles on boating and dancing under the name of “Joni J”. She had worked until just recently as an office manager for JP Management.
Joan had loved dancing both socially and competitively, and as a dance teacher.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday November 6 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the High Street Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hour will be held Tuesday November 5 from 4-8 PM.
