Virginia “Ginny” Jones Watson, 90, passed away on October 31, 2013 in Ledgewood Skilled Nursing and Rehab Facility. She was the loving wife of Richard “Dick”
J. Watson.
Born in Attleboro, Mass. on April 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Donald C. Jones and Doris W. (Deverell) Jones. Dick and Ginny were married at Old Orchard Beach, Maine September 17, 1950 and celebrated 63 years of marriage on September 17, 2013. They raised their family in Danvers where they have resided since 1954.
Ginny received her nursing education at the Webber Hospital, Biddeford, Maine. She served as a labor and delivery nurse at the following hospitals: Webber Hospital, Biddeford, Maine; Mass General Hospital, Boston; Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, Mass and Beverly Hospital, Beverly, Mass.
Ginny and Dick enjoyed many pleasant Square Dance years in the Lancer Square Dance Club of Salem, MA. Ginny and Dick also enjoyed playing cards with friends. Ginny enjoyed music, especially country and the big bands and her love for animals was well known.
Ginny loved her family dearly. It was and continues to be a close knit family. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children, Barbara Watson of Danvers; Stephen Watson and wife Marie of Groton NY; Karen Watson of Danvers, and Kenneth Watson and wife Memie of Beverly Mass. Her grandchildren include: Brenda Watson, Janet Berio, Brian Watson, Jessica Watson, Jenna Switzer, Michael Watson, and Michelle MacLean. Great grandchildren include: Adeliyah Berio, Benjamin Switzer, Mason Switzer, and Duncan MacLean.
A Memorial Service will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
