Obituary

Simonne D. Desrosiers, 91, of St. Antoine Residence, in North Smithfield, formerly of Grandview Ave. died Tuesday at Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Bernard J. Desrosiers Sr. Born in St. Aimee, P. Q. Canada, she was a daughter of the late Josephat and Eugenie (Parenteau) Tardif. She graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1946 and Holy Ghost Hospital Cambridge, MA. She worked as an LPN at the former Woonsocket Hospital for ten years, and was than a homemaker for most of her life. Simonne was a member of St. Joseph’s Sr. Citizens, St. Louis Sr. Citizens, The Royal Travelers, AARP the Greater Woonsocket Sr. Council and St. Joseph’s Choir.

Simonne is survived by her son, Bernard J. Desrosiers Jr. of Tampa, FL, and daughter, Denise C. McKenna of Woonsocket, six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Eugene, Gerard, Philippe, Harris, Paul and Lionel Tardif, Rose Caron, Jeanne Belba, and Cecile Joly.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket. Visiting hours are Sunday 2-4 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to JDRF RI Branch, 2374 Post Rd. Suite 203, Warwick, RI 02886 in her memory would be appreciated.
