FRAMINGHAM: Damiana Rodriguez Nieves, age 88, died surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. The devoted wife of the late Antonio “Toño” Nieves, she was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great and great great-grandmother.
Born, raised and educated in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, she was one of Clemente and Leocardia (Gomez) Rodriguez’s fourteen children. She married Toño and they settled in Rio Grande to raise their own children. They came to Framingham in 1984, reuniting with family members who had come to Massachusetts earlier, and were active with the Framingham Seventh Day Adventist Church. Toño passed away in 2012.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Carmen Rosa and husband Isabelo of NC, Eva Rivera and husband Juan, and Elda Sustache and husband Gilberto, all of Framingham, and Elizabeth Castro and husband Melvin of NC; her devoted sons, Antonio Jr. and wife Brunilda of Gardner, and Benjamin and wife Clara of Uxbridge; her 19 adored grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, a great great-grandson, many brothers and sisters, and a large and loving extended family.
Her funeral will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Friday, November 1st at 12noon followed by burial at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Framingham. Relatives and friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:30.
