EAST BRIDGEWATER - Richard S. Mansfield, 84, of East Bridgewater died Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Sachem Skilled Nursing Facility in East Bridgewater after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Robardin) Mansfield.
Born May 7, 1920, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Charles G. and Lena (Smith) Mansfield.
Mr. Mansfield was raised in Halifax and had been a resident of East Bridgewater for the past 50 years.
He was a union laborer at Ocean Spray for 10 years.
Mr. Mansfield was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II.
He was a member and past commander Post 91 Legion in East Bridgewater and a member of the Commercial Club.
He is survived by his son, George T. Mansfield of East Bridgewater; his daughter, Mary Lou Mansfield of Coventry, R.I., and his three grandchildren, Lyndsay, Jenna and Hallie.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours will be Sunday 4-6 p.m. at the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater.
