Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Patricia Ann (Hurst) Johnson, 77, died peacefully Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Dwight “Bill” Johnson who died in 2008. A lifelong resident of Myrtle Square in Gloucester, she was born on March 22, 1936 to the late John and Mary (Cavanaugh) Hurst.
Pat attended St. Ann’s School and graduated from Gloucester High School in 1953. She worked as a switchboard operator in Salem for the telephone company and later at Addison Gilbert Hospital. Pat worked for many years as a supervisor at Nutramax until her retirement.
Her family remembers Pat as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Summers were always spent at Good Harbor Beach with family. Patricia absolutely loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, the littlest ones never seemed to leave her house without a pack of Smarties or a small treat. She took great pleasure in working on her gardens and flowers. Seldom would you enter her home when there was not a pot of tea on the stove, and she always loved to sit and talk, especially with her dear friend Roberta Peterson. Pat often spent time at the Moose Lodge with her late husband Bill, close friend Larayne Andersen and many others. Pat was always quick to laugh or joke with anyone.
