Obituary

Born on April 20th, 1920 in Isparta, Turkey, a region renowned for its roses, Feriha Fatma Kubali was a beacon of beauty and cheer throughout her life. Raised between Istanbul and the Turkish capitol, Ankara, Mrs. Kubali married her husband, Hussein Nail Kubali in 1942 and continued to raise her two daughters between the two cities. After her husband’s death in 1981, Mrs. Kubali immigrated to the United States and settled in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Fairy, as she was soon known, became an active docent member of the Phoenix Art Museum, an avid player of tennis, a loyal lover of opera, and a proud tender of the valley’s largest roses. Fairy’s unwavering optimism along with her famous baklava and rice pudding will forever sweeten the memories of those who were lucky enough to be touched by her wand. Fairy is survived by her two daughters, Isik and Sevgi, and her four grandchildren, Etkin, Eser, Cidem and Menekce.
