Obituary

Thomas Edward Geary, 90, passed away on October 24, 2013 in Hathorne Hill Healthcare. He was the husband of the late Greta (Hurd) Geary.
Born in Danvers on November 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Thomas and Alicia (Leahon) Geary. Tom was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Holten High School. Tom has resided in Topsfield for the past 60 years. He served our country during WWII and Korean War with the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. Sgt. Thomas Geary received a fourth Oak Leaf Cluster to his Air Medal, signifying the fifth time he had been decorated with the Air Medal and was awarded to Technical Sergeant at 21 years of age for “meritorious achievement” while participating in numerous bombing attacks against military and industrial targets deep within the Reich and enemy installations in the path of the Allied armies in Western Europe.
He is survived by his children, Richard Geary and his wife Aurora of Newburyport, Robert Geary of Danvers and Joanne Geary of Danvers and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Rita Connolly and Gertrude Geary.
His Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-7PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Tom’s name to NHSPCA, PO Box 196, Stratham, NH, 03885.
