Obituary

Richard W. Davis, of Carver formerly of Plymouth, died on October 28th at the Plymouth Rehabilitation Healthcare Center at the age of 86. Husband of Alice (Wadsworth) Davis of Carver. Father of John Elliott Davis and his wife Judy of Surry, NH; Joseph Loring Davis and his wife Jennifer of Plympton, Richard W. Davis Jr. and his wife Danielle of Gilead, ME; Thomas William Davis and his spouse Charles of Holden and Mark Wadsworth Davis of Hinsdale, NH. He is also survived by his brother John C. Davis of New Braintree, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother William E. Davis and his sisters Carol Davis Black, Evelyn Kemp and June D. Waugh.
Richard was born in Norwell and graduated from North Brookfield High, Worcester Boy’s Trade School and New England Institute in 1963. Richard had also lived in Norwell and Marshfield before moving to Plymouth. He has been in the funeral profession since 1948 and founded the Richard Davis Funeral Home in 1969. He was a member of the First Parish Church in Plymouth, Plymouth Rotary where he was past president and a Paul Harris Fellow, Plymouth Masonic Lodge AF & AM, Samoset Chapter RAM where he was a former high priest, past president of the Old Colony Club and Mass. Funeral Directors Association. Richard had also worked for General Dynamic and was Captain of Company #1 Norwell Fire Department. In addition, he volunteered for many other local organizations.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St (Rt 3A), N. Plymouth on Friday November 1st from 4 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the First Parish Church in Plymouth on Saturday November 2nd at 11 AM followed by burial at Vine Hills Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
