Obituary

SOLOMONS, MARYLAND: Donald J. Taylor, 89, formerly of Rockport, died June 16, 2013 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Clark) Taylor.
Born in Beverly on May 31, 1924, he was the son of the late William and Ellen (Carroll) Taylor. He grew up in Lanesville and was a resident of Rockport for 55 years, where he was a pillar of the community.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific aboard the SS David W. Branch as a signalman and was honorably discharged in January of 1946.
Donald was employed as a business manager at Northeastern University for over thirty years. He will be remembered by his family for his tremendous generosity, his sense of humor, and his love and devotion to his family.
His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at the Annisquam Village Church, 820 Washington Street, Annisquam at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Prayers of committal will be held privately in the Mount Adnah Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
