Francesco Antico, a Wilmington resident for nearly 45 years passed away on Saturday, October 26th, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was 79. Francesco was the beloved husband of Pierina (Lidano) Antico and together they shared 51 years of marriage. Born in Carpenito, Romano, Italy, Francesco was the cherished son of the late Costante and Elvira (Biagoni) Antico.
Francesco was raised and educated in Italy where as a young man he apprenticed as a tailor learning his craft at some of the most famous fashion design houses in the world. He came to the United States in 1962 settling in Somerville for a short time before moving to Wilmington. Francesco worked his entire life as a very gifted and talented tailor in and around the Boston area with different clothing makers and department stores, most recently Niemen Marcus for many years. When not working Francesco enjoyed spending time with his family and especially cherished his time with his grandchildren whom he adored. He also enjoyed working in his garden, spending the summer months with his family at his home on Cape Cod, and listening to music and dancing.
In addition to his late parents, Francesco is predeceased by his son, the late George Antico. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pierina (Lidano) Antico. His devoted son Robert Antico and his wife Christina of Stoneham. Loving grandfather of Ashley, Eric and Kayla Antico. Brother of Maria Pia Ricci, Franco Antico and Rosalba Fanfoni all of Australia.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Wednesday, October 30th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
