Betty was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada and came to the states in 1948 settling in Malden, MA. Betty would say that over the course of her life, the best job she had and most meaningful was that of raising her family. She took great pride of being honored to be “Nana” to the many children and families she cared for during her lifetime. Betty also kept her home door open for those that needed a warm meal, advice, a friend, or simply a hug. Thus, instilling in the heart of her family the importance of caring for others in need. Betty’s early years included her love and commitment to the Salvation Army, as her church but also to its Women’s League and other family activity. Betty loved cooking and baking, designing “Nana’s” cards, reading, knitting and keeping up with the news of the day.
