Medora E. (Bessette) LaPlante, 95, of Westport, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Hathaway Manor in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Wilfred J. LaPlante.
Born in Fall River and daughter of the late Eugene and Edesse (Nadeau) Bessette, she had resided in Westport for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at the former Harley Dress of Fall River. She was a member of the Westport Senior Citizens, a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8502 in Westport and a communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Mrs. LaPlante was an avid Bingo player, loved music, dancing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her 2 sons: Roger A. LaPlante and his wife Barbara of Westport and Ronald W. LaPlante and his wife Dianne of Westport; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Eugene, Arthur and Robert Bessette and Lillian Pichete and mother-in-law of the late Barbara LaPlante.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. from the Potter Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M.
Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
