Edmund Francis Harrison, 97, of New Bedford, died Thursday October 24, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a period of declining health.
He was the husband of the late Mariah J. (Talley) Harrison and the late Edith M. (Stevens) Harrison.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Ruth (Harrison) Bargasse, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church.
Mr. Harrison was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator for Warren Brothers and Tilcon.
He was District Deputy Grand Master of the Fourth Masonic District.
Survivors include three children, Geraldine F. Harrison of Columbia, MO, and Edmund F. Harrison and his wife Brenda, and George E. Harrison and his wife Ramona, all of New Bedford; a step-daughter, Jennifer Groebe Rodriguez of Oakland, CA; two sisters, Doris Jones of Philadelphia and Pauline Cofield of Boston; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late James and Earle Bargasse.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 AM in the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 532 County St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
