Obituary

Violet M. (Dexter) Walsh of Natick passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Wayland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wayland at the age of 91.

She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. “Dick” Walsh, Jr. who died in 1982; the dear mother of Margaret J. Walsh of Framingham, James R. Walsh & his wife Corinne Mariano of Walpole, Mary Leclaire & her husband Mark of Worcester & Mark A. Walsh & his wife Kathleen Brosnihan of Millbury; the cherished grandmother of Michelle Amorelli, James Walsh, Matthew Leclaire, Corinne Lazzaro, Ian Walsh, Marianna Walsh, Harrison Walsh & Shannon Walsh. The great grandmother of Lorelei & Jacob Leclaire, Mia Rose Lazzaro & Miah Amoreli. Violet was the sister of Robert Dexter of Medway, Virginia Maude of North Conway, NH & the late Edward Dexter of Medway.

Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Robert & Emma (Bavis) Dexter. She graduated from Framingham High School, class of 1941 and married her childhood sweetheart shortly after his return from basic training at Parris Island, SC during World War II. Like many women of her generation, she worked at a local Army Defense plant while Dick served with the U.S. Marine Corps at the Pacific Front.

She was a resident of Natick for over sixty years and while her children were growing up in Natick, she supported many local school efforts at the Felchville & later Daniel J. Murphy Elementary Schools. She was active with the Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts serving as den mother, brownie leader & troop leader.

She retired from Sears in 1979 after working for other retail stores such as WT Grant & JJ Newberry. Violet & Dick enjoyed square dancing with the Fairs’n Squares in Framingham for many years, serving on the Board of Directors in the early years of the organization & then one term as President. The couple enjoyed many happy summers at their cottage on Great Pond in Rome, Maine.

Funeral from John Everett & Sons, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Monday, Oct. 28th at 9:00AM. Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main St., Wayland, MA at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 4:00-7:00PM. Interment in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
