Obituary

Othalyne Gillis, age 94, of Douglas, GA passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Gillis was born on February 15, 1919, in Coffee County, GA to the late Elisha McDonald and Annie Vickers McDonald.

She was a member a First Baptist Church and was a Charter member of Carver Baptist Church. Mrs. Gillis served as a Pink Lady at Coffee Regional Medical Center and was formerly employed at Coffee County Bank.

Survivors include: her daughter, Marvelyne (Norman) Fletcher of Douglas, GA, brother, Edgar McDonald of Alma, GA, sister, Bessie Edna Hill of Bainbridge, GA, six grandchildren, Norman Lynn Hand, Jeri Tanner, Dwayne Gillis, Don Gillis, Peggy Freeman, and Mary Jac Thompson, thirteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, E. Donald Gillis, nine brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 6-8 pm.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Shep Johnson and Pastor Gregory Pope officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Baptist Church Cemetery.
