Obituary

Josie Aycock Holibaugh, 72, of Fitzgerald, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Friday, October 25, 2013, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Gay and the Rev. Harris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Holibaugh was born November 22, 1940 in Irwin County, to the late Shelby Dock & Louisa McLeod Aycock. A 1958 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, she received her nursing training from Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta. While in Atlanta, she met her husband, James P. “Jim” Holibaugh. They lived in Ohio for a short time and returned to Fitzgerald in 1968. She was a former Registered Nurse for the Colony Home as well as working in the operating rooms at Tift Regional Hospital and Dorminy Medical Center. Nursing was her ministry and Mrs. Holibaugh had a deep love for her patients and those with whom she worked. She was a member of Prospect Baptist Church where she formerly taught the Junior Sunday school class and helped coordinate the card ministry and flower ministry. Mrs. Holibaugh loved reading as well as shopping.

She is survived by her brother: Ronny & Clarice Aycock of Fitzgerald; her sister: Lota Faye Kite of Fitzgerald and friend Danny Willingham of Mystic; and several nephews. Great-nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jim Holibaugh; two brothers: Herman C. Aycock and Kenneth S. Aycock; and a sister: Judy L. Aycock.
