Obituary

WORCESTER____Aldona M. (Zalansky) Tomkus, 80, of 119 Providence St., died Saturday Sept. 18 in Radius Health Care. Her husband, Anthony Tomkus died in 1968.

She leaves two sisters, Emily V. Knapik of South Grafton and Ruth C. Wheeler of Shrewsbury; a brother, Joseph E. Zalansky of Shrewsbury; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces. A son, Francis S. Czajkowski of Columbus, GA., died in 1974. A daughter, Judith M. Czajkowski of Worcester died in 1967. She was also predeceased by two brothers, John P. Zalansky and Stephen B. Zalansky. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John J. and Jadwiga (Kiela) Zalansky and lived here all her life.

Mrs. Tomkus worked 21 years for St. Vincent Hospital 19 of which were spent with the School of Nursing. She retired in 1989. She was a former member of Our Lady of Vilna Church. Mrs. Tomkus was educated in Worcester schools.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday Sept. 22 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 12:30 p.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Please omit flowers, contributions in Aldona’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
