Alfred G. Arcand, Jr.
Retired Schneider Co. Supervisor

TEWKSBURY: Alfred G. "Al" Arcand, Jr. age 80, a resident of Tewksbury for over 30 years, formerly of Littleton and Lawrence, passed away unexpectedly at the Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus on Sunday, October 20, 2013.
He was the beloved husband of Noreen (Brady) Arcand, with whom he celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 21, 2013.
Born in New York City, NY on August 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Alfred Arcand, Sr. and the late Reina (Bazluke) Arcand.
Al was raised in Lawrence, MA and attended Lawrence schools.
In 1951, Al enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a Paratrooper during the Korean War with the 187th Airborne Battalion. He was awarded several decorations for his military service including the Parachute Badge, the Combat Medical Badge, a Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 2000, he worked as a Manufacturing and Maintenance Supervisor for the Schneider Company in North Andover for more than 25 years.
In addition to his wife, Al is survived by one son, Alfred G. Arcand, Jr. of Tewksbury and his fiance Sharon Souza of Exeter, NH; two daughters, Lisa Arcand and her friend Melissa Gatta of Lawrence and Nancy Burke and her husband James of Haverhill; two step-daughters from a previous marriage, Debra Henderson and her husband James of N. Andover and Patricia Finnegan of Raymond, NH; two grandsons, John Gaudette and his wife Ashley of VT and Matthew Chretien of Exeter, NH; one great grandson, Carter Gaudette of VT; also several cousins and close friends.

Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 24, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to the M.S.P.C.A-Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
