James M. Dorgan, 57, of Methuen passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 17th at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Brighton, MA. He was born in Lawrence, son of the late Maurice B. and Mary E. (Devine) Dorgan. Jim was raised and educated in Lawrence attending St Patrick’s School, Central Catholic High School, and later graduating from St Gregory’s College, Shawnee, Oklahoma. He worked for many years as a newspaper distributor for the Lawrence Eagle Tribune, Boston Globe, Boston Metro, and most recently as the Circulation Director at the Boston Phoenix. In his free time Jim enjoyed motorcycle riding, skiing, vacationing, but most of all spending time with his family especially his granddaughter, Livvie. Jim also was a member of the FNX Snowriders. In addition to coaching, he served on the Board of Directors of the Methuen T- Ball Association.
Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lesley (Taylor) Dorgan of Methuen, 3 sons, Ryan P. Dorgan, Sean C. Dorgan, Kevin M. Dorgan all of Methuen, a granddaughter, Olivia Kate, a sister, Kathleen M. (Dorgan) Stewart of Methuen, a brother, Bud Dorgan of Lawrence, nieces, Kate, Julie, Megan, Erin, Kara, 8 grand nieces and grand nephews as well as his aunts, Marguerite Devine of Beverly and Claire Devine of Nashua, and many wonderful friends. Jim is also predeceased by his in-laws, John and Alice Taylor, his brother-in-law, Clark S. Stewart, and his nephew, Clark S. Stewart, III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Tuesday, October 22nd from 3-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Church in Lawrence on Wednesday, October 23rd at 11 AM with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methuen T-Ball Association, c/o 2 Douglas Ave., Methuen, MA 01844 in order to establish the Jim Dorgan Methuen T-Ball Memorial Scholarship.
