Mariette F. Vanasse, 97, of New Bedford died Saturday October 19, 2013 at Sacred Heart Home.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Ovila and Leontine (Gadoury) Vanasse, she had lived in New Bedford for all of her life. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and a member of the Catholic Woman's Club.
Miss Vanasse was employed as a customer relations representative with the former New Bedford-Acushnet Cooperative Bank until her retirement.
Miss Vanasse's family and friends will all miss her bright smile, sense of humor, caring character, optimism in the face of adversity, and the things that made her all that she was - her great faith in God and her ability to carry out her dream.
Survivors include a sister, Therese Tetreault of New Bedford; a brother, Jean Paul Vanasse of Southwick; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Florette Tremblay, Lorraine Gagnon, Joseph, Lucien, Bernard, Richard, Henry, and Rev. Herve Vanasse.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
