Robert Ferreira age 83, of Provincetown, died unexpectedly on October 17, 2013 at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Raquel (Rivera) Ferreira who died in 2011. They would have been married 55 years this month.
A lifelong resident of Provincetown he was the son of the late Manuel and Virginia (Bent) Ferreira. During the Korean War he served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was a graduate of Provincetown High School. Mr. Ferreira retired from the Commonwealth of MA highway department where he had worked for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Lewis A. Young VFW Post in Provincetown. Mr. Ferreira was a devoted Catholic and a lifetime member of St. Peter the Apostle church in Provincetown. He will be remembered as a quiet gentleman who always had a welcoming smile for anyone he met. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to good jazz.
He is survived by his daughter Bianca Ferreira of Provincetown and his son Robert D. Ferreira of Newport, RI. He is the brother of Kenneth Ferreira of Wellfleet, Paul Ferreira of Elmira, NY, and Joan Oliver of Provincetown.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Gately Funeral Home 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown on Tuesday Oct. 22, 2013 from 9:00 – 9:45am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. Peter the Apostle Cemetery.
