Obituary

Eric Raymond Erickson, 100, of Fairhaven died Thursday October 17, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Irene R. (Page) Erickson. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on October 20th.

Born in Cranston, RI, the son of the late Eric M. and Ann (Rooney) Erickson, he lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven for most of his life.

He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mr. Erickson was formerly employed as a cost accountant at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 33 years until his retirement.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a company clerk with the 2nd Evacuation Hospital. He participated in the Campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign ribbon.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Margaret Harrison and her husband Paul of Mandeville, LA, Susan Erickson and her husband George Stuart of Chapel Hill, NC, Kathleen Knutsen and her husband Henry of Fairhaven, and Paul Erickson and his wife Joanne of New Boston, NH; a sister, Doris Armitage of Connecticut; nine grandchildren, Paul Harrison, Katie Batalla, Kristine Kurtz, Brian Knutsen, Eric Knutsen, Karin Barrows, Dustin Stuart, Kara Wendel, and Kevin Erickson; five great grandchildren, Michael, Emma, and Collin Harrison, Nicholas Batalla, and Leiden Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late William Erickson, Esther Wojcik, Barbara Peckham, Irene Croteau, and Elvira Campanella.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Carroll Center for the Blind, 770 Centre St., Newton, MA 02458.
