Obituary

Robert C. Johnson, 77, of Sandwich, MA, passed away on October 14, 2013.
His humor, love, optimism, intelligence, stories, and amazing ability to never give up, will be greatly missed by the family and friends whose lives he touched.
Memorial service will be held at St John’s Episcopal Church, Sandwich, MA on Saturday November 9th at 10:00 a.m. with a reception immediately following in the church hall. A private service for family will be held at the old & new cemetery in Sudbury, MA on November 10th.
Bob Johnson was born in Newton, MA to the late Harry & Marge Johnson on August 17, 1936. He attended Newton High School where he ran track and sang with the Barber Shop quartet, the Newtones, who recently gathered for a 50th reunion in Newton. He went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Boston University and graduated in 1959.
He had a long career in publishing including Advertising Sales for McGraw Hill, Publisher of Boston Magazine, and Regional Sales at I.S.A. Once Bob semi-retired to the Cape, he did a number of jobs including substitute teacher at Sandwich High School where he earned the name “Super Sub” for his ability to tell stories and keep the kids interested. He also drove special needs kids for Cape Cod Collaborative. After getting cancer, Bob was featured in a TV and web commercial for Cape Code Healthcare. During his adult life he lived in Atlanta, GA Philadelphia, PA, Wilton, CT, Sudbury MA, Ridgefield, CT and Sandwich, MA. He had many passions including history, travel, golf, and spending time with family & friends, but most of all, hearing and telling jokes.
Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Seaman and son Kenneth Johnson.
Robert C. Johnson is survived by his wife Kathy Johnson, of Sandwich, MA. He is also survived by his sister Jill Johnson-Bardsley and family and his five children and their spouses; Kathryn and John Joy of Port St. Lucie, FL, Elizabeth and Peter Parente of Pepperell, MA, Robert and Cyndi Johnson of Port St. Lucie, FL, Cynthia and Keith Batchelder of Sterling, MA and Amy Kate Johnson of Pepperell, MA, seven grandchildren and his beloved nieces and nephews.
