Betty Cromer Locke, 81, of Chula died Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula. Rev. Larry Layfield will officiate with a eulogy to be given by Scotty Hayes. Interment will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Butler with Rev. Fitzgerald Brown officiating. Howard Pearman, G. W. Pearman, Grady Pearman, Keith Jones, Scott Jones and Kyle Jones will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Locke was born on January 4, 1932 in Tift County and was the daughter of Charlie C. Cromer and Felton Pearman Cromer, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. She was an Avon representative and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chula, where she was a member of the Adult III Ladies Sunday school class. She was raised by her grandparents, S.T. and Bertha Pearman.
Mrs. Locke is survived by her husband, Edward Evans Locke of Chula; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and David Moore of Greenville, North Carolina and Julia and Jim Robison of Newnan; one son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Sonya Locke of Blackshear; six grandchildren, Trey Stroud, Mathew Robison, Samuel Robison, Jadison Hayes, Jordan Locke and Jeslyn Locke; and two great-grandchildren.
