WORCESTER- Mr. Domenico DeCillis, 93, passed away Friday October 11th, 2013 unexpectedly at his home.
He is survived by his beloved children; five sons; Nicholas, James and Anthony DeCillis, all of Worcester, Domenic DeCillis Jr. of Millbury, and John DeCillis of Cherry Valley; two daughters; Rita Caputo and Mary DeCillis, both of Worcester; two sisters, Francesca and Dora DeCillis of Bisceglia Bari, Italy; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Sergio, Giacomo and Pantaleo DeCillis and two sisters, Lucia and Giuseppina DeCillis of Bisceglia Bari, Italy, predeceased him. A host of dear friends and extended family who will miss him greatly.
Mr. DeCillis was born November 30, 1919 in Bisceglia Bari, Italy, a son of the late Nicholas and Martha (Porcelli) DeCillis. Husband to the late Mary A. (Ventura) DeCillis who predeceased him on March 18th, 2006.
Mr. DeCillis immigrated to the United States in 1954 settling on Brooklyn, New York and later moving to Worcester. He served his country of Italy while there serving in the Air Force during World War II and then serving in the merchant marines after the war. He worked for Antonelli Construction, Worcester Box Envelope and most recently, up to his retirement, he worked as an orderly at Worcester State Hospital for 10 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Most importantly, he was a devoted, loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be terribly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Relatives and friends will be received at FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch Street, Worcester on Thursday, October 17th from 4pm to 7pm. His Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 18th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel - St Ann Church in Worcester at 10:00am. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.
