Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Paul A. Roy, 60, of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on March 20, 1953, a beloved son of the late Albert P. and Mary J. (Elie) Roy. He was raised in the North End section of Springfield, graduated from the former Tech High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a well known carpenter in the area and had last worked at Truss Engineering in Indian Orchard. Paul had a wonderful collection of baseball cards and was an avid Red Sox fan. He leaves his loving sons, Christopher P. Roy and his wife, Daliana, of Springfield, and Eric S. Roy and his partner, Barry Arlen, Jr., of Sullivan, NH; his four cherished grandchildren, Johnathan, Aaliyah, Christopher Jr., and Gavin; his former wife, Donna L. (Augustus) Roy of Chicopee; his two brothers, Albert Roy of Agawam, and Philip Roy of Springfield; his two sisters, Helen Duquette and her husband, Jean, of Feeding Hills, and Suzanne Duquette and her husband, Rheal, of Southwick; and many nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Norman Roy. His funeral service will be held on Monday morning, October 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (the funeral home will open at 9 a.m.). His burial will follow the service at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
