TAUNTON – Maria C. (DeAlmeida) Duarte, wife of the late Manuel D. Duarte, died at Morton Hospital on Oct. 14, 2013.
She was 67.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Maria (DaSilva) DeAlmeida.
A Taunton resident for the past three years, Mrs. Duarte immigrated to the U.S. in 1965 and resided in California before moving to Fayal, Azores in 1982.
An assembler for the Fairchild Company in California for many years, she enjoyed cooking, playing cards, trips to Foxwoods, and time spent with family and friends.
She leaves a son, Emanuel Duarte of Taunton; two daughters, Elza Brum of Taunton and Elizabet Silva of Sanford, FL; five grandchildren, Diane, Marissa and Joseph Brum, and Ciara and Preston Silva; a great grandson, Carter DaPonte; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the Jose Manuel DeAlmeida and Carlos M. DeAlmeida.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday Oct. 19th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday Oct. 18th from 5 to 8 p.m.
Maria will be remembered for her beautiful laughter and smile which will always remain in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that masses be offered in Maria’s intention.
