Obituary

Helen Bowden Tanner, 99, of Warm Springs, formerly of Douglas, GA died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Warm Springs Nursing Home. A Graveside Memorial services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Douglas City Cemetery.

Ms. Tanner was born May 30, 1914 in Woodbury, the daughter of Weymon M. Bowden and Susie Long Bowden. She was a retired manager of Friedlanders Apparel in Douglas and was a member of the Douglas First United Methodist Church. Ms. Tanner was an active member of the Pilot Club and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was preceded by her husbands, Hinton Turner and Lambert Tanner; her sisters, Virginia B, Findley and Esther Gresham.

Survivors include nephews, Ben Marcus of Birmingham, Wayne Gresham of Manchester, Ralph (Buddy) Gresham of Savannah and John Slade of McDonough; nieces, Hilda Hoppe of Concord, NC, Sue Anderson of Manchester and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ms. Tanner may be made to Douglas First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 738, Douglas, GA 31534, Raleigh United Methodist Church or the American Red Cross.
